The Roxy in Encinitas to Host June 13 Benefit for Local Cancer Programs

The Roxy Grand Opening BenefitAfter an extensive remodel, iconic North County restaurant The Roxy Encinitas will celebrate its official grand opening with a special event to benefit the Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center and The Seany Foundation on Tuesday, June 13, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Famous for its falafel burgers, The Roxy has been a fixture in the Encinitas community since opening in 1978 at 517 South Coast Highway 101, Encinitas, 92024.  In recent months, the restaurant’s premises have been remodeled in the jazz and art deco style of the 1920s. The Roxy has also expanded its food and beverage offerings and now offers live music nightly, as well as weekend brunch.

Dave’s Killer Bread Foundation to Hold Second Chance Summit in Seattle

Dave's Killer Bread FoundationJob Fair, Film Screening and Summit Planned to Inspire Employment for People with Criminal Backgrounds in Puget Sound 

WHAT:           The Dave’s Killer Bread Foundation (DKB Foundation) will host two days of events to demonstrate the benefits for businesses, individuals and society when people with criminal backgrounds are given employment opportunities. With the support of Northwest icon Dave’s Killer Bread (the rebel organic baker that employs nearly 100 people with criminal backgrounds at its Oregon bakery), the DKB Foundation is partnering with FareStart, the IF Project, Mod Pizza, Uber, National Employment Law Project and the City of Seattle to cultivate a dialogue around the potential in people with backgrounds and the ability of businesses to create positive change by offering them jobs.

Sycuan Casino Donates $25,000 to Mama’s Kitchen in San Diego to Support of Mama’s Day

Sycuan Casino has Mama's Day 2017 San Diegoproudly donated $25,000 to Mama’s Kitchen, a non-profit organization in San Diego. The donation is in support of the 26th Annual Mama’s Day event that helps to raise funds for Mama’s Kitchen’s mission to deliver hot, nutritious meals free of charge to local men, women and children affected by AIDS or cancer. Last year, Mama’s Day raised $165,000, which provided 51,000 home-delivered meals.    

“Mama’s Kitchen is grateful for the unwavering generosity and long-standing partnership of Sycuan Casino and the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation,” said Alberto Cortés, executive director, Mama’s Kitchen. “Sycuan’s contributions are vital to helping us provide nourishing meals for our neighbors struggling with AIDS or cancer.”
